This gallery was originally created to share my photos of Mike Garets after his unfortunate, and untimely death in 2025. When I first started volunteering with The Peregrine Fund, Mike was an established leader of the bird handlers that performed during annual Fall Flight shows. The following is the copy that went with the original gallery.
"To the family and friends of Mike Garets. Mike and I met when we were both involved with The Peregrine Fund at the World Center for Birds of Prey. When we first met, I was just learning about raptors and falconry. I was told that Mike was an expert in that area, so I pestered him with questions. He was always gracious, and very willing to answer questions about either subject. His love for the birds, and the pursuit of falconry was obvious. Through the years, I got several chances to spend time in the field with Mike and his bird Aria. The images in this gallery were taken of Mike when he was working as a bird handler during the Fall Flight shows at the World Center, hunting in the field with Aria and during training sessions for young Gyrfalcons. ...... I hope having these images will help you hang on to your memories of Mike Garets.
