TAKE A QUICK LOOK: I am a retired gentleman with a significant history in photography. To start with, I got a 2 year degree in photography, then I started looking around for fun things to take pictures of. I lived at the beach in California, and had a strong interest in auto racing. Lots of fun stuff to take photos of there ..... but much of it had an admission price. So, photography became an avocation, and I became a schmoozer. I traded photo work for access. I met, and made friends with, people in the car magazine business. I got press/photo passes to major auto races so I could get "inside the ropes", and magazine articles and stories followed.
That adventure lasted for about 25 years, then I took a full time job in the auto racing business. The cameras were sold. I wasn't a photographer again until I retired and moved to Idaho. No ocean beaches or major car races here .... but lots of open country and wildlife.
Older now, but still a schmoozer, I started hanging around where wildlife professionals worked. I became a CITIZEN SCIENTIST, and traded photo work for access to wildlife. Birds mostly. Most of these wildife professionals work in non-profit areas and getting good photos for free really worked well for all concerned. So here is what I have been doing lately:
