The images in this gallery appear to portray the female adult devouring one, or possibly two, of her chicks. The chicks deaths happened within the confines of the nesting box so it is unknown what caused the deaths. The people who monitor this box stated that there were 5 live nestlings in the box 4 or 5 days prior to the photos being taken, and there were only 3 live nestlings in the box 2 days after these photos were taken. There were no signs left in the box that might indicate what caused the deaths.
