Every species of raptor that lives in the United States is protected. There are very strict regulations regarding who can own one and what they can do with them. No one, not even the Peregrine Fund, can go out in the wild and gather up raptors for their displays and shows. All the birds that appear in the permanent displays, or annual flight shows, are acquired through regulated channels. Most of the birds have a life story that includes circumstances that would make it impossible for them to survive in the wild. Some of the show birds live long lives at The World Center, others only a short visit. This Group features images of many of these birds, and their stories.
